Choker and Connoisseur : Complicity
Robert Wan's Pearl Creations
Robert Wan never hid his admiration for beauty or the joy he feels when his most beautiful creations are around the necks of women worldwide. He also wanted to pay tribute to the most exquisite pearls. With this objective in mind, he created two distinct product ranges: Connoisseur and Choker by Robert Wan. These ranges were launched with a unique and very strict leitmotiv, combining perfection and timelessness. They express a unique know-how, a skill elevating to an art, reflecting the talents honed first in the pearl farms and then in Robert Wan’s workshops.
These two ranges offer a large selection of necklaces, strings of pearls, and chokers made with the largest and most perfect pearls. The pearls used for these necklaces are of unmatched quality, featuring incredible glossiness and pure, perfect shapes. Do you wonder what constitutes a perfect pearl? Aiu Deschamps in Destination Tahiti gave the following poetic definition: A perfect pearl would theoretically be a round pearl of at least 13mm in diameter without any surface imperfections (no spots, circles, irregular color, blisters, or depressions). The perfect pearl would have a dark color with an acid green reflection known as "fly’s wing." It should have a unique brightness, due to its polished surface, called "luster." This perfection did exist, but the challenge was to showcase such excellence.
Choker Robert Wan and Connoisseur were the results. They were overwhelmingly elected by the world’s specialists as the most beautiful pearls. Robert Wan, the architect of these creations, was nicknamed "the Tahitian pearl’s Emperor and expert." More than anything, we must acknowledge the great work done since 1973, when a young Chinese Polynesian boy decided to embark on the risky pearl farming adventure. It is the result of a life dedicated to pearls, finally rewarded in the most glorious way.
